Dr. Richard Myers is an experienced pharmacology expert and discovery team leader with a diverse scientific background. Dr. Myers spent 9 years at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, most recently as an Associate Director in the Gastrointestinal Drug Discovery Unit (GI-DDU). He has deep experience as a project team leader and manager of a laboratory pharmacology team. He has led projects across modalities (small molecules, monoclonal antibodies, and cell therapies) ranging from early target ID and validation to clinical candidate nomination.
Dr. Myers holds a Ph.D. from the University of California Davis in the field of Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Physiology. He is a recipient of an HHMI Translational Research Training Grant and conducted his dissertation on the therapeutic potential of microRNAs in cardiovascular disease. He brings a hands-on scientific background in multiple therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, neurophysiology, and inflammation disease research.
